Saturday August 23rd [Scenic] & Sunday August 24th [Steakhouse J&A] Rides!

Saturday most of the group road the Tour de Cure Texas Beef Team training ride.  We all had a great time.  There was a nice 20 mile ride led by Jason and the 50 miler lead by Thomas and then I lead a 43 mile ride.  Thanks again to Texas Beef Council for sponsoring breakfast tacos and brisket afterwards.  Remember to join our Tour de Cure team at http://main.diabetes.org/goto/TeamBeef

OASIS OFFICE SPACE:  None cycling question.  I’m considering taking down some office space in the Oasis new office complex.  There is this great suite on the 4th Floor with two private balconies and views of the lake and hills.  It is a really great deal but there is too much space for my company to take down and they told me I could sublease so I was wondering if anyone in the group or if you know anyone that is interested in looking at the space with me?  They have not built walls or anything so we can really format the floor plan the way we want.  Please give me a call at 512-914-3773 if you or someone you know is interested looking at the space with me.

WEEKENDS RIDES

AUSTIN SCENIC LOOP – Saturday August 23rd at 7:30am at Cups & Cones

This Saturday the Steiner Ranch Cycling Club we will be doing the Scenic Loop. The ride is about 60 miles round trip from Cups & Cones to MJ’s and back. There is a Group A that will average 18 – 20 mph over the entire ride and there will be a Group B that will average 15 – 17 mph.  Both groups don’t have designated sweepers so you should have a certain level of fitness to keep up with the respective groups average pace.  Group B is the cool guy group.

The ride will start at Cups & Cones and we will grind it out of Steiner Ranch via the Steiner Ranch Blvd hill up to 620. We will take the 620 down to Anderson Mill Road and make a right on Spicewood. Then we will work our way through a few neighborhoods and end up on Jollyville and work our way down Jollyville through the Domain and will cross 360 and get onto Mesa up Mt. Bonnell and then ride through Terry Town and follow Scenic route along Lake Austin Blvd down to Mellow Johnny’s for a break.

There are a few alternatives on how to get home. Sometimes the group will go back via 360 then Bee Caves back to Steiner Ranch via 620. Another route is back via Shoal Creek but instead of heading back down Mesa some will go Spicewood Spring and around. Just show up and we can all ride down to MJ together then everyone can figure out which route they want to take home.

COFFEE SHOP RIDE – Sunday August 24th at 7:30am at Cups & Cones

Join us this Sunday for the SRC Coffee Shop Ride!  This is for those wanting to explore options outside of Steiner Ranch or those wanting a nice social/recovery ride.

The group will leave C&C at 7:30 like the other Sunday ride groups, but will target some not-too-far coffee shop for some espresso, biscotti, and socialization.  The ride will average around 15-17 mph and should be perfect for those looking for a recovery ride or to extend their range out of Steiner.  Each week we will pick a different destination, but they would typically be around 15 miles from C&C.  This is a no-drop ride, but you should be able to ride 30-40 miles at a 15-17 mph pace.

BABES (and BROS) on BIKES / RECOVERY RIDE – Sunday at 8:30am at Cups & Cones

Come join us for the Sunday social Babes (and Bros) on Bikes / Recovery Ride.   This user-friendly ride is intended for beginners looking to gain some experience and/or riders wanting a later start or easy Sunday cruise.  Riders meet at Cups & Cones for ‘wheels down’ at 8:30am. This is a ‘no drop’ ride, meaning the group stays together, within the neighborhoods of Steiner Ranch.  The route and pace is customized to the level of riders who show up.  In general, you can expect a mostly flat course, about 1 hour long varying from 10-20 miles.  There will be optional hill climbs for those wanting an extra challenge, and to help beginners set riding goals.  You will learn the basics of bicycle safety, riding technique, equipment recommendations, but mostly, you will meet new friends and have FUN!  All are welcome!  Hope to see you there!

Saturday August 16th [Team Beef] and Sunday August 17th [Coffee Shop Ride]

Welcome Back It has been a few weekends since I have sent out an email.  I am eager to get back to riding with you guys and getting back to the normal weekly grind.  My SoCal visit was great and if I get that second home in San Diego I’ll be sure the doors are open to any of you that would like to go and have a place to stay.

As many of you know Steve Cummings is taking orders for new kits so make sure you reach out to him if you are looking for a kit.  Also, Thomas Lea has received the bibs from Descente for those of you that requested a replacement.

Tour De Cure Please make sure you join our Tour de Cure team which we do every year and it has been tons of fun.  Cycling, Food and Beer and all for a great cause: http://main.diabetes.org/goto/TeamBeef
