This weekend’s rides: Tour das Hugel! Red Horn!

SRC,

A very busy last few months of organized rides is wrapping up and we will soon be back on our regular weekend schedule. We have one last organized ride this Saturday… Tour das Hugel! This is a nasty ride, but it is built in such a way that you don’t have to do the whole thing. The ride starts by the pedestrian bridge near Austin High School and makes two loops. You can do either or both loops and end up at your car. The full ride is about 110 miles and a whole lot of climbing. You should be able to do roughly half of that by picking one of the loops if you don’t have time or legs for the full thing. See the full details at http://www.dashugel.com (and the related Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/tourdashugel). Be sure to read the FAQ on the web site as its pretty funny and full of details. Lots of people do this ride and some will be walking their bikes up some of the hills. Push your comfort zones and come ride with us! Wheels down at 7am (Stratford and Mopac).

Sunday is our usual Coffee Shop ride to Red Horn. It is 50 miles and is at an endurance pace typically finishing around a 17mph average speed overall. While we make great efforts to keep the group together, this is NOT a no drop ride. If you cannot hang with the group after repeated regrouping, you may get dropped. Red Horn is 20 miles away and is where we stop for coffee, breakfast tacos, pastries, and socializing before finishing the rest of the ride. The route can be found here: https://www.strava.com/routes/4736117 . We leave from Cups & Cones at 7:30 am.

See you soon!

This weekend’s rides and other updates! READ ME! PARTY! KIT STORE OPEN!

SRC,

This Sunday, November 6 is the SRC party at the lake clubhouse in Steiner Ranch (down Quinlan Park Rd almost to the end, then turn left on River Bend and follow it all the way to the end). The party starts at 2pm and there will be BBQ, beer, and other refreshments. Bring your family! Please RSVP here so we know how much food and drink to provide: http://evite.me/ZKFEx1QdWV . Everyone that has ridden with us before is invited (and those that are new to the area and plan on joining us).

The kit store is once again open! This time only bibs and jerseys are available (since we have to hit minimums and we recently had the store open for everything). Please place your orders for your 2nd/3rd kits now that you know your sizes. The store is accessible via https://custom.elielcycling.com/collections/steiner-ranch-cycling and will close in about a week. Please order caps! We will not meet the minimum and the club will have to buy the remainder. They are only $15 and feedback from last time is that they are awesome. Get yourself another if you like :-).

Saturday we will head ‘way out southeast’ on a COMPLETELY NEW route provided by Max to visit the famous Tuesday Nighter course made famous back in 1970s by the legendary John Howard. The ride is about 76 miles and can be found here: https://www.strava.com/routes/6786678 . After the ride we meet up at Lakeside for some discounted burgers and beer!

NOTE: clocks change Saturday night / Sunday morning. We still leave at 7:30 (it will feel like you got another hour to sleep though!).
