Many of us (myself included) are going to RAGBRAI and will miss our next two ride weekends (through the end of July). Many more are staying here and wanting to ride! Communication for the ride options may be lacking, but there will certainly be rides leaving from our regular starting point (Cups & Cones) at 7:30 am each weekend morning so it should be safe to just show up.

This coming Saturday sounded like a good day for a Dam Loop of some variety. The following Saturday, July 30, will be a game day choice ride however a fun alternative would be Bicycle Sport Shop’s El Diablo Poker Dash & Bash (http://bicyclesportshop.com/about/2016-el-diablo-poker-dash-bash-pg2376.htm). Check it out!

Both upcoming July Sundays will feature our standard 50 mile Red Horn Coffee Shop Ride as usual.

Many of us will be going to RAGBRAI on the 22nd so this is the last group training opportunity… let’s make it a long one! Saturday we will head out for a 79 mile ride that takes us along the entire Walnut Creek Hike and Bike paved trail! We did this once before and it was a blast. There will certainly be two groups, so don’t worry about the miles. The route is here: https://www.strava.com/routes/4352496 — be sure to check the route out and download to your favorite device. After the ride we grab discounted burgers and beer at Lakeside next door to the start so be sure to put that in your plans!

Sunday is our usual Coffee Shop ride to Red Horn. It is 50 miles and is at a more relaxed social pace than our Saturday rides, but we typically finish with a 17mph average speed overall. While we make great efforts to keep the group together, this is NOT a no drop ride. If you cannot hang with the group after repeated regrouping, you may get dropped. Red Horn is 20 miles away and is where we stop for coffee, breakfast tacos, pastries, and socializing before finishing the rest of the ride. Both rides leave from Cups & Cones at 7:30 am. Come early on Saturdays to grab some coffee, kolaches, and donuts!
