January 18th (new route) and 19th Rides!

Get your Ride On!
Get your Ride On!

Saturday we had 12 riders for the Avery Ranch ride and it was perfect weather with the exception of the pollen clouds it was a perfect day.  We even had a tail wind on the way back to Steiner Ranch going down the 620.

Sunday we had 8 riders and we went out to Ski Shores and again we had perfect weather but when we descended down Glenn Lake Blvd you could see these huge clouds of pollen blow across the road.  I have never seen anything like it.

New Kits? We are starting to talk about getting new kits made in 2014.  We will probably do a smaller run so that means only our active riders will get a free kit.  That being said, we will give anyone an option to buy a kit or jersey as part of the order.  The cost to purchase a jersey or kit will still be less expensive than what you could buy in a bike store.

So the big question is should we go with a new design or should we just stay with the old design?  Send your emails or let’s discuss on our next bike ride.

NEXT WEEKENDS RIDES

PARMER / RONALD REAGAN – Saturday January 18th at 8:30am at Cups & Cones

On Saturday the Steiner Ranch Cycling Group will be trying a new route that will be about 53 miles and is a flat out and back.  We will roll out from Cups & Cones at 8:30 am morning.

The ride heads out of Steiner Ranch out to 620 then to Anderson Mills Rd.  We will take Anderson Mills Rd. all the way to Parmer and then left on Parmer until it turns into Ronald Reagan Blvd and continue all the way to highway 29.  We will turn around at the point and head back the exact way we came.  For those of you that want to add some miles you just need to keep rolling and if you go out to 2338 and back you will have logged 70+ Miles.

Jason Yunker has scouted part of the route and notified me that the road is pretty beat up due to construction from 1431 until 177 but clears up again after that.

As always, while we do our best to keep the group together you will need to have a certain level of riding experience and conditioning to stay with the main group or else you may get left behind.  We will probably have two groups.  We will have a faster group that will average about 18-20 mph and a slower group that will average between 15-17mph.   There is no designated sweeper for our Saturday ride.

26.6 MILE ONE WAY ROUTE (round trip 53.2 miles):

For those that want a 70 + Miler just keep going on Ronald Reagan Blvd out to 2338 and come back the same way we went out.

December 21st and 22nd Rides!

wreathChristmas is only one week away and if you are looking for a cool inexpensive cycling themed gift then check out Jennifer Allis handmade bike chain Christmas ornaments.  Prices range from only $5 for the chain wreath, $7 for the chain Christmas tree and $10 for the decorated tree.   I have one hanging on my tree now.  I think they are awesome.  Contact Jennifer at jen@jenallis.com to place your order.  She lives here in Steiner Ranch too.  Every cyclist should have one hanging from their tree.

I’ll be there for the Saturday ride but not the Sunday ride as I’ll be leaving town for Christmas but the rides will be on for anyone that shows up.

The Triple B’s ride is approximately a 52 mile bike ride that will roll out from Cups & Cones at 8:30 am morning. The ride is scenic and it follows around the lake via lime creek and volente and there is about 2,100 feet of climbing.
