January 25th & 26th (Jack & Adams/Steakhouse Ride) Rides!

Welcome to the Devil's Den!
Welcome to the Devil’s Den!

New Kits Meeting Please meet us at The University of Texas Golf Club in Steiner Ranch in the bar area this Thursday (1/23/14) at 6pm.    This will be our first meeting to discuss the new Steiner Ranch Cycling Club kits.  If you have contacts, experience or just want to be involved in helping design the coolest kits in Austin please join us this Thursday.  There are going to be 4 key responsibilities that I see so we can talk about who wants to take those on.  We should also include input into what we want in this new kit.  We talked about high quality material, full zipper and increasing the size of the SRC logo.  We talked about full sponsor vs. people paying up some amount too.  We can talk about this too.  I think there is another topic here we should talk about too since about half our riders don’t live in Steiner Ranch and we should somehow think how we can incorporate some props for them without diluting the Steiner Ranch Cycling Club identity.

Happy hour ends at 7pm so you might want to get to the UT Golf Club as close to 6pm as possible.  I have a draft agenda we can all work with but it will totally be informal and I’ll take a lot of notes.

2014 Event Calendar Please visit our event calendar on our website at https://steinerranchcycling.com/event-calendar/ as it is starting to fill up with some great ideas for rides.  Every week we will continue to add new rides.  Also if you are on the Beef Team and want to get reimbursed for your ride please go to www.txbeefteam.org and login and fill out the form.

It is going to be an awesome weekend for riding and I hope to see you all out there on Saturday and Sunday.

After our fluid and bio stop at MJ’s we can either go back via Shoal Creek route or via Bee Caves.  I’ll be taking the Shoal Creek route back but many go the Bee Caves route.  You can choose one that you feel up too.  For those that want hill you can add in the Cuernavaca Hill on the way back if you are going the Bee Caves route.

ROUTE 1 (on the way home via Shoal Creek):

We will probably have two groups.  We will have a faster group that will average about 18-20 mph and a slower group that will average between 15-16mph.  That being said there is no designated sweeper behind me so you need to keep up with me at a minimum or you will be dropped.

Steiner Ranch Steakhouse Route / Jack & Adams – Sunday January 26th at 8:30am at Cups & Cones

On Sunday the Steiner Ranch Cycling Group will be joining riders from all over Austin for a ride sponsored by Jack & Adams and the Steiner Ranch Steakhouse.  The ride leaves at 8:30am so get there by 8:00am or you may miss the group.  Typically they get well over 100 cyclist and most stick around after the ride for half price brunch and live music.

The ride starts at the Steakhouse and heads out 620 and then makes a left on Anderson Mill and we bike out to Cypress Creek and make a right then left on Lakeline all the way out to Crystal Falls where we make a left and drop into the hole.  We then bike back the exact same we came.  It is a fun 33 miler.

The organizers have three rides.  A no drop 15 mile ride, a 33 mile intermediate ride (14-17mph), and a fast ride (18 – 21 mph).

December 21st and 22nd Rides!

wreathChristmas is only one week away and if you are looking for a cool inexpensive cycling themed gift then check out Jennifer Allis handmade bike chain Christmas ornaments.  Prices range from only $5 for the chain wreath, $7 for the chain Christmas tree and $10 for the decorated tree.   I have one hanging on my tree now.  I think they are awesome.  Contact Jennifer at jen@jenallis.com to place your order.  She lives here in Steiner Ranch too.  Every cyclist should have one hanging from their tree.

I’ll be there for the Saturday ride but not the Sunday ride as I’ll be leaving town for Christmas but the rides will be on for anyone that shows up.
