October 5th & 6th Bike Rides

ShavedLegsFor those that were not scared away from the weather man we had some great riding weather both Saturday and Sunday!

Saturday we had about 12 riders and we headed out to Cozy Cove.  It was a challenging ride and the group really broke into two main groups.  It was fun, cool and challenging.

Sunday we had about 6 riders show up and we headed out to Ski Shore.  Again it was nice and cool and we had a good time.

Jester King Brewery II Club Ride is on again.  Mark your calendar for November 16th.  See details on our website at https://steinerranchcycling.com/jester-king-brewery-ride-ii/

If you have not already noticed our website has a Strava highlights plug in and you can see all the miles our club riders have logged plus a bunch of other stats.  If you have not already join our Steiner Ranch Cycling Strava Club then please do so by going to our website and click on the Strava link and click join club.  The club rode 1,600 miles and our top riders for the week by category are as follows:

Distance                    Thomas Lea              153.4 Miles
Elevation                   Thomas Lea              12,401 Feet
Average Speed        Eric Watson             19.5 Mph over 92 Total Miles

I’ll be out of town Saturday & Sunday and Thomas Lea generously agreed to lead the groups out.

AVERY RANCH ROUTE – Saturday October 5th at 7:30am at Cups & Cones

On Saturday the Steiner Ranch Cycling Group will be heading out for an approximately 55+ mile bike ride that will roll out from Cups & Cones at 7:30 am morning and we will head out to AVERY RANCH and head back via Crystal Falls.

The ride is going to be fairly flat and fast.  While we do our best to keep the group together you will need to have a certain level of riding experience and conditioning to stay with the main group or else you may get left behind.  There is no designated sweeper for our Saturday ride.

There will be a Group A travelling at speeds of 18-20 mph over the course of the route and we will also have Group B travelling about 16-17mph.  Again there is no designated sweeper.

Ski Shore – Sunday October 6th at 8:30am at Cups & Cones

We are changing the start time for our Sunday ride to 8:30am.  Again Saturday’s ride is still at 7:30am.  We will still leave from Cups & Cones and we will ride out to Ski Shores.  The ride is about 25 miles and about 2,000 feet of climbing.

This is a NO DROP ride and is fun but you should be able to average 14 – 15 mph.   There are always a couple road demons if you want to go a little faster.

City of Austin Bike Registration  Not sure if anyone has used this before, but a two minute registry can at least help you get your bike back if the police recover your stolen bicycle.  Thank Dustin Orrick for sharing.

Charity Navigator  Since we are involved in a number of charity rides please take a moment to learn more about the charities we are riding in and any others that you may be involved with.  www.charitynavigator.org  is an independent watchdog for charities.
